Main Departure Points for Budapest Cruises

And How to Get There?

Almost all cruises in Budapest depart from the Danube docks located roughly between Elizabeth Bridge and Chain Bridge, although there are also a few departure points further north or south. Below is a breakdown of all the popular and central departure points for cruises in Budapest, including explanations on how to get there:

Dock 7 - near Elizabeth Bridge on the Pest side

Dock 7 is located in the heart of the city center and is very easy to reach. If you arrive by public transport, tram line 2 drops you at Vigadó tér or Március 15. tér, and from there it is a short walk along the promenade to the river. If you are arriving by metro, you can get off at Ferenciek tere (M3 line) and continue on foot for 6 to 8 minutes downhill toward the river. If you are already in the hotel area along the promenade, simply walk straight along the Danube without entering the side streets.

Dock 11 - departure point of Silverline

Getting here is also simple. If you arrive on tram line 2, get off at Március 15. tér and walk a few steps south along the river until you see the Silverline sign. If you are coming from the main Deák Ferenc Square (M1/M2/M3), the walk takes about 10 minutes through the central streets of Pest. It is important not to climb onto the Elizabeth Bridge itself. You should remain at river level, as the dock is located directly under the bridge.

Dock 42 - the northern dock

Dock 42 is especially convenient if you are staying near Jászai Mari tér. If you arrive by tram 4 or 6, get off at the square and continue a few minutes west toward the river. If you are coming from the Buda side, you can get off at Margit híd station, cross the bridge on foot and then go down the stairs to the riverbank. The access route is marked and clear.

Vigadó tér - Docks 5-8

This is the main departure area for tourist cruises. If you are arriving by tram, line 2 stops right at Vigadó Square, and access to the docks is via the stairs directly from the square down to the river. If you are coming from Deák Ferenc tér on foot, the walk through Váci Street or along the Duna korzó takes about 7 to 9 minutes. If you are already in the hotel area along the promenade, simply walk straight along the river.

March 15 Square - Március 15. tér

Reaching this point is very similar to Dock 11. If you are arriving by tram line 2, get off at the station on the square and walk one or two minutes to the river. If you arrive from the Ferenciek tere metro, it is a short 5 to 6 minute walk toward the Danube. The dock is prominent and clearly marked in the area.

Docks on the Buda side (near Szilágyi Dezső tér)

In some cases the departure point is on the Buda side. If you are arriving by metro, get off at Batthyány tér (M2 line) and walk a few minutes along the river. If you prefer the tram, lines 19 and 41 stop along the Buda promenade within a short walking distance from the dock.
