The Floating Lotus is one of the well-known cruises here in Budapest and one of our top recommendations. It is the perfect cruise for young travelers and anyone looking for a sightseeing tour with a lively, fun atmosphere, free unlimited drinks, and relaxing lounge music in the background.
The cruise operates every evening at 6 PM (sunset cruise) and 8 PM (evening cruise) and lasts about 75 minutes in total. We chose the sunset option so we could enjoy the daylight views and then see Budapest beautifully lit up at night from the Danube. In our opinion, this is the best time to take a cruise in the city.
The open deck provides the best views of the city’s landmarks, and since it was a bit chilly, the crew gave us blankets, which was perfect. If it still feels too cold, you can sit in the closed, air-conditioned section of the boat instead. The open bar was available throughout the entire cruise, offering soft drinks, wine, and other alcoholic options such as Prosecco and Aperol Spritz. The cruise departed exactly on time, so make sure you arrive punctually to avoid missing it.
The meeting point is easy to find and located at Pier 9 on Zsófia Rendezvényhajó, a very central area near the famous Elizabeth Bridge. During the cruise, you will pass by landmarks such as the Hungarian Parliament Building, Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, Liberty Bridge, and other highlights along the Danube, all while holding a drink in hand and enjoying the relaxing lounge music.
